Statement of Belief

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, an inerrant revelation from God to man, the infallible rule of faith and conduct, and is superior to conscience and reason, but not contrary to reason. The sixty-six canonical books of the Bible, as originally written, provide the only foundation of Christian faith and practice, government, and discipline. (2 Timothy 3:15-17, 1 Peter 1:23-25, Hebrews 4:12)

God

God is the Holy Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; One in Essence and Three in Persons, who are eternally self-existent, self-revealed and function as one entity. We believe God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit worked together in the creation: the world and the universe were created in six days, with God declaring the seventh day as a day of rest. We recognize and worship Him as one God.  (Genesis 1:1-2:3; John 1:1-4, 10, 14) 

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, the second Person of the Godhead. His coming was prophesied in the Old Testament. He was born to a virgin (Micah 7:14, Matthew 1:22-23, Luke 1:26-28), He died, arose after three days in the tomb, and now sits at the right hand of the Father, co-equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit, interceding on our behalf (Luke 24:46-47, Mark 16:19, Hebrews 7:25, Romans 8:34)

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Godhead who teaches and comforts the believer. We believe in His work, power, fruit, and gifts. It is the power of God’s Holy Spirit that helps us do the right things. We are not strong enough to live the Christian life on our own. According to the Scriptures, the names Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit are used interchangeably as the Name of the third Person of the Godhead. (John 14:26, John 15:26, John 16:7, Galatians 5:22-23)

Salvation

We are saved by grace, through faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, Who forever paid the price for our sin. (Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Romans 10:8-10, Ephesians 2:8) There is only one way to salvation, and that is through Jesus Christ. (Acts 4:12) That faith is evident in our lives through right thinking and actions by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:16, 2 Corinthians 5:10, 1 John 3:23)

The Church

The Church is the Body of Christ and uniquely exists to extend the love of God to the world around us, through both our words and our work, and to lead believers toward spiritual maturity, as followers of Christ. (Ephesians 1:22, 2:19-22, Hebrews 12:23)

Creation of Mankind

We believe God created mankind separate from the animals, and within this creation God created male and female as separate but wholly complementary genders, each sex uniquely and mysteriously bearing God’s image. We believe humanity is called to make visible the invisible Creator God on this planet. (Genesis 1:26-27, 2:7, 15-23)

Sanctity of Marriage

We believe that God designed marriage to be between one man and one woman, coming together as one flesh, in that the sexual union brings forth new life that will bear the image of God, and they will be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. Marriage is the firmest foundation for building a family, and mirrors God’s covenant relationship with His people. (Genesis2:23-24, Genesis 2:18-25, Matthew 19:4-6, Mark 10:6-9, Ephesians 5:28-32)

Sanctity of Human Life

We believe in the sanctity of human life, from conception to natural death, and that God has a purpose for every human being ever conceived. (Jeremiah 1:5, Exodus 20:13, Psalm 139, 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, Deuteronomy 27:25, Deuteronomy 30:19, Job 30:23, Ecclesiastes 8:8)

The Day of the Lord

The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is coming back visibly to the earth, to judge the living and the dead. Believers, living and dead, will be gathered up to heaven on the day of His return. (John 5:22,27, 1 Corinthians 15:50-58, 2 Corinthians 5:10, Thessalonians 4:13-18, 2 Thessalonians 2:1, 2 Timothy 4:1)
