How To Become a C4C Chaplain

The leadership of Canines for Christ Ministry would like to offer you the opportunity to obtain a Certificate of Chaplaincy with Canines for Christ. The Chaplain designation will open many new doors for you to minister to people as they will view you in a different way as you reach out to them in Christ’s name.

If you are interested, the following are the requirements:

• Be an active C4C Member
• You and your dog must have obtained 50 community visits and submit via Track it Forward
• Complete the “Sharing Hope in Crisis” Billy Graham Online Training and submit the certificate of completion (when this course is available again).
• Complete the introduction along with the first two modules (days 1-10 and days 11-20) of the Introduction to Chaplaincy course through the Christian Leaders Institute. Each module ends with an exam. Please screenshot the final result after you have taken it and include with Chaplain application.  
• Complete the Chaplain Application
• Agree to become a Care Partner for four to six C4C Members.
• Attest to the Code of Conduct (print the last page, sign it, and return with application).
• Submit your $100 Payment HERE
• Phone Interview with Board Member.
• Complete Background Check.

*For C4C Chaplains ONLY - Once you are an active Chaplain with C4C several on-going training opportunities will be offered via Zoom. You are required to attend at least one of these trainings annually to remain an active C4C Chaplain* Effective 01/01/2025

Once you have completed these requirements, please submit your application to the C4C Board of Directors for review and approval. As a C4C Chaplain, you will receive a Certificate of Chaplaincy, C4C Chaplain badge, new cards, black C4C hat, black polo shirt, and car magnet. A $100 donation is required to help with the costs of these items.

You do not have to leave your community to be a Chaplain. There are many opportunities to serve just where you are! I urge you to pray that God will lead you to be a Chaplain and that you will have the opportunity to lead many into His Kingdom.
